The Wedding Present quickly claimed the appreciation of British college rock listeners in the mid-'80s with the band's
furious pop style and singer David Gedge's clever lyrics. Like many alternative rock acts that would attain fame during
that decade, they earned the ear of influential radio DJ John Peel, who let them perform on his show in 1986, giving them
a wide audience.
The Wedding Present was started in 1985. The band has gone through a number of lineup changes over the years, with David
Gedge at its heart. After playing for John Peel, the band quickly developed a following among alternative rock fans, who
soon after dubbed them "the Weddoes." The Wedding Present would put out a number of strong albums during that
decade, but the best was yet to come.
The Wedding Present tickets are now available! This band took off in the '90s,
with 1994's Watusi sticking out as a particular highlight. Though they disbanded in 1997, they reformed in the '00s and have
put out some strong records since then. If you're a Weddoes fan, then you're not going to want to miss out on concert
tickets to their current tour.
