Folk legend Pete Seeger grew up in Patterson, NY in a household filled with music and political activism. After leaving Harvard after just two years, he roamed the country listening to banjo filled groups before starting his own, deemed the Almanac Singers, in 1940. He continued with the Weavers, and earned serious critical acclaim for his folk singles like Kisser Sweeter than Wine and Goodnight Irene, as he continued to perform his blacklisted material throughout the 50s.
Folk music is synonymous with Pete Seeger the New York native who was brought up on strong views and music. Starting to perform in the late 30s, the musician has remained one of the most well known folk performers in our country, heading out on his own for the first time in the late 50s and remaining on stage for the next five decades.
