The original group - Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, William Powell, Bill Isles and Bobby Massey - all grew up in Canton, Ohio together and formed the O'Jays in 1958.
With a sweet soul sound and harmonies, the group was first inspired by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers before they debuted their sound in 1961 with the single "Miracles."
