Leon Russell was born April 2, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma and started appreciating music at a young age. Russell formed
his own band and lied about his age at 14 to play in a night club. Russell went solo in 1971, though he never completely
abandoned his role as a session man. That means you may have heard him playing on some of your favorite songs. In the
past, he's performed alongside Elton John and Bob Dylan.
Leon Russell has seen a resurgence in his career in the past few years thanks to some help by Elton John. The duo recorded
a joint album called The Union that proved to be very successful and brought him out on a brand new tour.
