Jeff Mangum is known both for his involvement in Neutral Milk Hotel, a band indie-rock fans have an eternal crush on, as well as the Elephant Six Recording Company, the label that put out both his own bands' works as well as several other major indie acts. The Apples in Stereo, Beulah, of Montreal, The Olivia Tremor Control and Elf Power were all major acts on the label's roster, and would all see success in in the '90s.
Jeff Mangum is a bit of an indie-rock myth at this point. Fans speak of him playing back in the '90s, but he took an extended hiatus from the stage in 1998, so understandably, fans are enthralled with the rare chance to see him.
