Bill Gaither was born in Indiana and grew up loving music. He was inspired by gospel quartets and when he was in college in 1956, he put together The Bill Gaither Trio but still taught English on the side. In 1962, Gaither married his wife Gloria and they started writing songs together and continued to work with The Bill Gaither Trio, which also included his brother Danny.
