Ben Folds was born September 12, 1966 in North Carolina and started playing with bands in high school. It wasn't until the late '80s that he started becoming serious about making music his career and played bass for a band called Majosha. Folds relocated to New York to do some acting but soon came back to North Carolina to start his band Ben Folds Five in 1994.
