Tom Gabel's a strange cat. He's more than just the punker kid who's spent his time in the pit. He's also spent time in coffeehouses and sidewalks, busking for change and hoping to make sense of the crazy world he sees around him. Against Me!, quite appropriately, fuses the bold anger of punk with pensive indie-folk, coming up with something entirely original.
Against Me! formed in 1997 in Gainesville, Florida, when Tom Gable began experimenting solo with an acoustic guitar, then brought some friends into the fold. As the band grew, so did their audiences. In 2002, they released their debut LP, Reinventing Axl Rose. The record put their stamp on punk, and revived the genre from death.
Since releasing their debut, Against Me! has become known as being on the edge when it comes to doing something different with punk rock.
